People Advisor
Location: Leeds, LS28 5QS Salary: £35,000 per annum (FTE) Job Type: Full-time, Permanent (4-day week considered)
About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced People Advisor who thrives in a people-first environment and genuine partners in shaping a positive, inclusive workplace.
If you enjoy variety, operate well in fast-paced settings, and want to actively shape employee experience – this is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive People Team in a newly created role where initiatives, relationships and driving positive impact are valued.
Key Responsibilities
Supporting Managers and Employees
- Provide practical, people-first HR advice across diverse employee matters.
- Manage employee relations cases (grievance, disciplinary, performance, absence etc.).
- Coach managers to build confidence in handling people issues.
- Serve as a trusted, approachable HR contact for employee queries.
- Support wellbeing initiatives through meetings, action plans, and tailored interventions.
Building a Great Place to Work
- Champion a positive, inclusive and values-led culture.
- Foster engagement initiatives to ensure employees feel valued and connected.
- Analyse feedback (surveys, exit interviews, ideas) to identify trends and improve experience.
- Participate in wellbeing initiatives, CSR activities and internal events.
- Support diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives.
Learning and Development
- Help design and deliver learning and development activities across the business.
- Support early careers programmes and development pathways.
- Collaborate with managers on individual development plans.
- Coordinate training, ensuring relevance and alignment with business needs.
Projects and Continuous Improvement
- Contribute to team-wide People strategy initiatives.
- Champion data-driven insights to improve processes and working conditions.
- Support performance processes such as PDPs, appraisals, and 1:1s effectively.

Keeping Operations Smooth
- Create high-quality HR documentation and maintain alignment with legislation.
- Ensure policies are up-to-date and compliant with best practices.
- Maximise the use of HR systems (BambooHR, Staff Circle).
- Support compliance and general People Team administrative tasks.
Requirements
Essential Skills & Experience
- Experience in a busy HR/People Advisor or similar role.
- Confidence managing a range of employee relations cases (disciplinary, grievance, performance, absence).
- Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practices.
- Garner respect through excellent communication skills at all levels.
- A pragmatic, fair and people-first approach.
- CIPD Level 5 qualification (or working towards it).
- Experience with HR systems.
Desirable Skills/Experience
- Familiarity with BambooHR.
- Exposure to L&D activities.
- Experience in people data analysis and reporting.
