We're looking for enthusiastic, customer-focused individuals to join our newly formed People Services team as People Assistants and we have 2 FTE opportunities.

As part of our redesigned People Services operating model, you'll play a vital role in supporting managers, employees and colleagues across the Council. You'll help deliver an efficient, professional and customer-focused service, ensuring that our people processes run smoothly and that employees receive the support they need throughout their employment journey.

While appointed into a generic People Assistant role, successful candidates will be aligned to a specific People Services workstream. This means you'll have the opportunity to develop specialist knowledge and experience while remaining part of the wider People Assistant community.

Depending on business need, this may include Employee Relations, Recruitment, People Systems & Data, or Learning and Organisational Development.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to start or develop a career in HR and People Services, working as part of a supportive team during an exciting period of change and transformation.

You'll be involved in

  • supporting recruitment, onboarding and employee lifecycle processes;
  • maintaining accurate employee records and People systems;
  • responding to employee and manager enquiries;
  • processing workforce, payroll and contractual changes;
  • supporting reporting, compliance and administrative activities;
  • coordinating meetings, training events and people processes;
  • helping maintain high-quality workforce information and records;
  • supporting the delivery of efficient and customer-focused People Services.

Responsibilities

  • Support recruitment, onboarding and employee lifecycle processes.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and People systems.
  • Respond to employee and manager enquiries in a professional and timely manner.
  • Process workforce, payroll and contractual changes.
  • Support reporting, compliance and administrative activities.
  • Coordinate meetings, training events and People processes.
  • Maintain high-quality workforce data and records.
  • Support the delivery of efficient, responsive and customer-focused People Services.

Skills Required

  • Experience in administration, customer service or a similar support environment.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good attention to detail and accuracy when maintaining records and information.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications and business systems.
  • Ability to build positive working relationships and work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Commitment to delivering excellent customer service.

Educational Requirements

  • Good standard of education demonstrating literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Level 3 CIPD Foundation Certificate in People Practice, an equivalent qualification, or equivalent experience in administration, customer service, People Services or business support.
  • Evidence of continuing professional and personal development.
