Level 1 People Assistant

Department: Business Services - Human Resources Location: Bristol

Description

The Level 1 People Assistant provides essential administrative and customer-focused support to DACB. This role is typically the first point of contact for colleague queries and supports day-to-day people processes, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and a positive colleague experience.

The People Support team is well-established, offering opportunities to work on projects, process improvements, and continuous professional development.


Key Responsibilities

Firm-Wide:

  • Understands DAC Beachcroft as an international firm and operates consistently as one team/brand.
  • Always acts in the best interests of the firm, both internally and externally.
  • Works within a regulated environment, effectively managing risk, compliance (including data security), and gained commercial risk mitigation.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Act as the first point of contact for People-related queries via email, phone, or ticketing system.
  • Collaborate with team of People Assistants, utilising systems to manage and respond to colleague and manager requests.
  • Assist with new starter onboarding, including:
    • Completion of new starter paperwork and right-to-work documentation.
    • Collating new starter information, signed contracts, and ensuring timely submission of all colleague details.
  • Support colleague lifecycle management and processing changes.
  • Generate People team correspondence to support operational processes.
  • Undertake administrative tasks for core People functions, such as:
    • Induction, recruitment, training, probation, maternity, and leaver processes.
  • Ensure People systems are updated accurately and submitted in time for monthly payroll.
  • Maintain electronic People files in accordance with data protection requirements.
  • Manage absence records (holiday, sickness, unpaid leave) and provide reports while escalating issues as needed.
  • Escalate complex or sensitive queries/tasks to Level 2 Senior People Assistants.
  • Build long-standing working relationships with Centres of Excellence and HR Business Partners (HRBPs).
  • Process requests accurately and on time, adhering to Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Proactively identify opportunities to enhance processes, improving team efficiency.
  • Handle confidential information strictly in line with the firm’s data security protocols.
  • Support the wider People team with ad hoc project work and cyclical activities.
  • Communicate effectively with the business to deliver high-quality service.

Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise

Essential:

  • Client service orientation with exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and quality.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Team player with a collaborative, flexible, and proactive attitude.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritise workloads under pressure, and work independently.
  • Excellent IT literacy, particularly with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, regulated environment.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in People/Recruitment/Learning & Development administration, ideally in a service delivery or team environment.
  • Experience with People/Recruitment/L&D operational systems.
  • CIPD qualification or progress towards it.
