SCOPE OF ROLE
As a People Business Partner, you will work closely with managers and teams to deliver effective, people-focused solutions that support business performance and employee engagement.
Reporting to the People Business Partnering Manager, you’ll support the implementation of the people strategy, lead on key HR initiatives within your business units, and provide expert advice across a range of people topics including employee relations, performance, engagement, and talent development.
This is a hands-on, solutions-focused role, ideal for someone who enjoys building relationships, solving problems, and delivering initiatives that make a real difference to people and business. You’ll play a key role in supporting leadership capability, driving operational excellence, and embedding a positive, high-performance culture.
HOW YOU`LL SUCCEED
- Act as a trusted advisor to line managers, providing coaching and guidance on performance management, engagement, wellbeing, and day-to-day ER issues.
- Support the implementation of the broader people strategy and initiatives developed by the People Business Partnering Manager.
- Partner with managers to build capability and confidence in leading people, applying policies and practices fairly and consistently.
- Manage and support ER casework, including investigations, grievances, disciplinary processes, and informal conflict resolution.
- Support talent and succession planning activities, ensuring accurate documentation and follow-up actions.
- Contribute to leadership development and manager enablement initiatives, including training facilitation and coaching.
- Work closely with Talent Acquisition and hiring managers to support recruitment activity, onboarding, and early talent development.
- Use people data and insights to identify trends and support problem-solving within your business areas.
- Support reward and recognition activity, including annual pay reviews and benchmarking exercises.
- Promote wellbeing, inclusion, and engagement across teams, collaborating on local and company-wide initiatives.
- Ensure people policies and processes are understood, compliant with legislation, and consistently applied.
- Support change programmes such as restructures, TUPE (where applicable), or process improvement initiatives.

What It Takes
Essential:
- Experience in a People Business Partner, HR Advisor, or Generalist role.
- Strong understanding of UK employment law and best practice.
- Proven experience managing employee relations cases from start to finish.
- Ability to coach and influence line managers with confidence.
- Experience supporting talent and development initiatives.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable working with people data and reporting.
- Good knowledge of people processes and systems.
Qualifications:
- CIPD Level 5 or working towards it; equivalent experience will also be considered.
Desirable:
- Experience in an operational, infrastructure, or engineering environment.
- Experience working in an international environment.
