About the Role

You've probably heard of B&M as a customer, but there's much more to us than our stores. With over 780 stores across the UK, more than 36,000 colleagues, and our continued growth as a FTSE 250 business, there's never been a more exciting time to join us. Following an internal move, we have an opportunity for an experienced Regional People Business Partner to join our People team.

This is a highly visible, field-based role supporting a region of 100+ stores, with the Midlands being the ideal location. Partnering closely with the Regional Operations Manager, Area Managers and Store Managers, you'll lead the regional people agenda, develop leadership capability, build future talent pipelines, and drive performance through people.

This role is about more than providing HR support. You'll be a trusted partner to operational leaders, spending time in stores, coaching managers, identifying and developing future leaders, and ensuring people priorities are embedded across the region. Combining strategic thinking with a hands-on approach, you'll make a direct impact on colleague engagement, leadership effectiveness and business performance.

Key Responsibilities

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Lead and deliver the regional people strategy, aligning talent and workforce priorities with commercial objectives.
  • Partner with senior operational leaders to drive performance, strengthen leadership capability and build high-performing teams.
  • Spend time across the region coaching, supporting and influencing Area Managers and Store Managers to deliver excellent people outcomes.
  • Drive succession planning and leadership development, ensuring robust talent pipelines for critical management roles.
  • Identify high-potential talent and support the development of future leaders through coaching, development planning and career conversations.
  • Utilise people data and insights to identify trends, risks and opportunities, influencing business decisions and people outcomes.
  • Lead colleague engagement initiatives and drive a culture of accountability, development and continuous improvement.
  • Support workforce planning, organisational change and business transformation initiatives across the region.
  • Champion colleague wellbeing, organisational effectiveness and an inclusive culture where colleagues can thrive.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
