People Experience Team Lead – The Doctors Ti Rakau

The Doctors Ti Rakau is seeking an experienced People Experience Team Lead to join our friendly and supportive team of healthcare professionals. This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a busy healthcare environment, values leadership by example, and is committed to delivering exceptional patient service.


About The Role

As the People Experience Team Lead, you’ll lead reception operations while maintaining hands-on involvement. You’ll collaborate closely with the Medical Centre Manager to ensure seamless front-of-house efficiency, outstanding patient care, and a supportive team environment.

In this permanent full-time position (40 hours per week, Monday–Friday), your role will focus on shaping the future of the reception team by fostering a positive workplace culture, driving continuous improvement, and nurturing professional development.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and support the reception team while maintaining a hands-on approach to day-to-day operations.
  • Oversee and optimise workflows to ensure reception runs efficiently and smoothly.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service to patients, visitors, and internal teams.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and training of new reception staff.
  • Facilitate performance development reviews and enhance team engagement.
  • Identify opportunities to improve reception processes and patient experience.
  • Work collaboratively with clinical, administrative, and support teams to maintain clinic standards.
  • Cultivate a positive, welcoming, and inclusive workplace culture.

About You

To succeed in this role, you’ll need:

Experience & Skills

  • Proven experience in a GP practice or healthcare administration.
  • Leadership or senior reception experience (preferred).
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional patient care and customer service orientation.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and de-escalate challenging situations diplomatically.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Confidence in using Microsoft Office, with experience in Medtech Evolution software highly desirable.
  • Experience motivating teams, building relationships, and leading by example.
