Futura Learning Partnership has a fantastic opportunity to join a large HR team, providing HR support for school and academies in the West of England. You will cover the full employee lifecycle, whilst you gain your HR Support Level 3 with realise. Great benefits including wellbeing support and retail discounts.

As a People Operations Apprentice

You will provide a HR operational and administrative service to a number of schools and academies that are allocated to the post holder, working as a wider team when required to ensure an effective service delivery.

Duties will include:

  • Working closely with School Office Managers to ensure compliance with statutory regulations and Trust policies
  • Providing administrative support for the full employee lifecycle including on-boarding, contract variations and leavers
  • Ensuring pre-employment checks are undertaken in accordance with Safer Recruitment practices, Ofsted and Trust policies and procedures
  • Providing accurate data to the Trusts Payroll Provider in a timely manner

You will:

  • Signpost basic HR enquiries (email, phone, in-person) and escalate when needed
  • Support schools to maintain electronic records and in-house HR systems
  • Support with preparing school-based reports on employee related data to assist schools with management of staff
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with school leaders, school office managers, and other professional service colleagues

Course contents

  • Service Delivery: Delivers excellent customer service on a range of HR queries and requirements, providing solutions, advice and support primarily to managers. Builds managers’ expertise in HR matters, improving their ability to handle repeated situations themselves where appropriate. Uses agreed systems and processes to deliver service to customers. Takes the initiative to meet agreed individual and team KPIs in line with company policy, values, standards. Plans and organises their work, often without direct supervision, to meet commitments and KPIs.
  • Problem Solving: Uses sound questioning and active listening skills to understand requirements and establish root causes before developing HR solutions. Takes ownership through to resolution, escalating complex situations as appropriate.
  • Communication & Interpersonal: Deals effectively with customers/colleagues, using sound interpersonal skills and communicating well through a range of media, e.g., phone, face to face, email, internet. Adapts their style to their audience. Builds trust and sound relationships with customers. Handles conflict and sensitive HR situations professionally and confidentially.
  • Teamwork: Consistently supports colleagues/collaborates within the team and HR to achieve results. Builds/maintains strong working relationships with others in the team and across HR where necessary.
  • Process Improvement: Identifies opportunities to improve HR performance and service; acts on them within the authority of their role. Supports implementation of HR changes/projects with the business.
  • Managing HR Information: Maintains required HR records as part of services delivered. Prepares reports and management information from HR data, with interpretation as required.
  • Personal Development: Keeps up to date with business changes and HR legal/policy/process changes relevant to their role. Seeks feedback and acts on it to improve their performance and overall capability.

Your full role and responsibilities will be set out by your employer. They will provide you with all of the on-the-job training you need to up-skill in your role, and your 20% off-the-job learning will be incorporated as part of your working day.

You will be working towards the Level 3 HR support apprenticeship standard, which includes:

  • Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours
  • HR Support Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard
  • Functional skills in maths and English if required

This will be delivered by your dedicated training provider, Realise.

Requirements

  • GCSE in:
    • Mathematics (grade 4)
    • English Language (grade 4)

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.

  • Enhanced DBS with Child Barred List required
  • Full Driving Licence and own car (Ideal but not mandatory)
  • Onsite parking

Based in Keynsham Bristol, bus and train links to Bristol and Bath. Close to Keynsham Train Station.
