The Company
Stream is on a mission to bring better financial wellbeing to frontline workers. We partner with some of the world's most recognised employers to give their teams access to fairer financial services, all built around flexible pay. Millions of people can now choose how often they're paid, track their shifts and earnings, start saving, use budgeting tools, get free financial coaching, and access fairer financial products, all through one financial wellbeing platform.
Stream is unique: VC-backed and growing at scale-up pace, but with a social conscience. We're a certified B Corp. Some of the world's leading financial charities and impact funds were our founding investors, and we operate on a social charter, which means every product we build has to improve financial health and reduce the premium lower-income earners pay for financial services each year.
You'd be joining a team of around 300 passionate, ambitious people across the UK, Europe and USA, building a category-leading fintech product and all united by the same mission.
The Opportunity
At Stream, our people are the engine behind everything we do, and as we continue to scale, we need our People Operations to scale with us. This is a role at the heart of our People team, built for someone who is as comfortable in the detail of a payroll run as they are thinking about how AI and automation can transform how we operate.
You'll take ownership of payroll, ensuring it runs with precision and care every month, while also bringing a sharp, analytical eye to how we can continually improve our people processes and leverage technology to do more, smarter. This is a role with genuine scope to grow: as you build credibility and capability, there is real opportunity to take on broader People Operations responsibility over time.
The Team
You'll sit within the People team, reporting into the Head of People, and work closely with our Finance team on payroll. You'll collaborate across the business on systems, process, and operational improvements, and be part of a small, high-impact People team that punches well above its weight.
What will you be doing?
• Payroll ownership: Take full ownership of payroll processing end-to-end, working closely with our Finance team to ensure every payroll run is accurate and on time, and acting as the go-to expert for all payroll-related queries across the business.
• Process optimisation: Identify inefficiencies in our people processes and lead on improvements, from documentation and standardisation to automation, always with an eye on scalability.
• AI and systems: Champion the use of AI tools and our HRIS to streamline People Operations, exploring what's possible and building smarter workflows that free up time for higher-value work.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
