Role Overview
The EMEA People Operations Lead / Manager is a "player-coach" role that drives operational excellence, scalable transformation, and high-quality HR service delivery across UK and EU markets, while leading a team.
This expert position owns end-to-end employee lifecycle execution and spearheads complex HR transformations, including:
- AI and automation initiatives
- Case and knowledge management frameworks
- Regulatory programs (SMCR)
- Cross-functional change strategies
The ideal candidate has:
- Deep hands-on HR Operations experience—versatile enough to job craft solutions while executing tactical work
- The ability to thrive in ambiguity
- Strong partnership skills to bridge HR Business Partners, functional teams, business groups, Technology, and Global People Operations
Key Responsibilities
Operational Excellence & Regional Ownership
- Serve as the regional SME for UK and EU People Operations, ensuring operational consistency, risk management, and compliance.
- Lead end-to-end employee lifecycle transactions, including:
- Onboarding
- Role changes, extensions, transfers, and exits
- Special employment scenarios
- Guarantee operational excellence in service delivery, timeliness, accuracy, employee experience, and compliance.
- Be the senior escalation point for high-impact or sensitive operational cases.

Case & Knowledge Management
- Own and improve case management processes, including:
- Intake models
- Escalation paths
- SLAs and quality standards
- Develop and execute a knowledge management strategy to ensure:
- Documentation is accurate, accessible, governed, and actively updated
- Document and update process flows, decision trees, SOPs, and controls—no delegation.
HR Transformation, Automation & Enablement
- Lead and drive HR transformation initiatives, including:
- Process redesign
- Automation and digitalization
- Across entire employee lifecycle
- Accelerate AI-enabled solutions and workflow automation to:
- Reduce manual effort
- Improve service quality and scalability
- Collaborate with Technology teams on Workday, ServiceNow, and associated tools.
Regulatory & Risk Programs (SMCR)
- Lead and/or execute UK SMCR HR Operations programs, including:
- Annual cycles
- Coordination with Compliance and HRBPs
- Process documentation
- Audit readiness
- Ensure EMEA employment compliance with:
- Local regulatory requirements
- Employment laws
- Internal controls and governance
- Maintain "defensible" documentation and data integrity for audits/reviews.
Cross-Functional Project Delivery
- Deliver high-complexity projects across HR, Compliance, Legal, Finance, Technology, and external vendors.
- Translate regulatory/business/people requirements into operable solutions.
- Manage multiple prioritized workstreams with strict execution discipline.
Data, Insights & Decision Support
- Leverage operational data, metrics, and trends to identify:
- Risks and inefficiencies
- Improvement opportunities
- Build and utilize dashboards/analytics to drive data-backed decision-making and influence.
- Shift from activity-based reporting toward outcomes-focussed insights.
Player-Coach Leadership
- Balance hands-on execution with team coaching and development.
- Set high standards for accountability, quality, and follow-through.
- Foster a culture of:
- Ownership
- Continuous improvement
- Operational rigor

Required Experience & Capabilities
- 8–12+ years of progressive People Operations or HR Operations experience, with deep end-to-end employee lifecycle exposure in a multi-country, regulated environment. Must include:
- Experience as a regional operations leader or specialist, with hands-on familiarity in UK and EU employment operations (e.g., running or supporting UK SMCR initiatives).
- Proven ability to juggle BAU execution alongside HR transformation (e.g., leading automation, AI, or process redesign efforts).
- Strong hands-on experience with Workday or ServiceNow (or equivalent platforms).
- Deep knowledge of multi-jurisdictional employee lifecycle operations in the UK and EU.
Core skills:
- Case and knowledge management expertise—designing frameworks and keeping documentation live.
- Exceptional execution skills, managing multiple competing priorities.
- Ability to operate at strategic and tactical levels skillfully.
- Expert stakeholder management and cross-functional influencing.
Communication:
- Clear, structured communicator with rigorous written and verbal documentation discipline.
