People Partner – Leading UK Charity (Permanent, Full-Time, Hybrid)
Harris Hill is recruiting for a People Partner to join our client’s People and Culture team. Our client is a leading UK charity dedicated to providing specialist care, rehabilitation, education, and support for children and young people with complex disabilities.
This role involves partnership with leaders and managers to enhance people management practices, foster a positive working culture, and deliver a fully people-first approach. The role is permanent, full-time with hybrid working, requiring three days per week on-site at the organisation’s office in Tadworth, Surrey.
About the Role
Reporting to the Senior Organisational Change Manager, the People Partner will:
- Work closely with directors and managers to provide expert HR coaching and strategic guidance.
- Advise on employee relations—including performance, conduct, attendance, and conflict resolution—ensuring fair, consistent, and wellbeing-focused policies.
- Support organisational development, including workforce planning, change management, and policy implementation.
- Collaborate with the People team to strengthen talent development, leadership capability, and retention strategies.
- Drive employee engagement, culture-building, and workforce insights to shape long-term people strategies.
Key Responsibilities
HR Partnering & Coaching
- Provide practical, solution-focused HR advice to senior leaders.
- Guide managers in performance management, disciplinary procedures, and policy compliance.
- Ensure consistent application of employment law while prioritising wellbeing and engagement.

Organisational Development & Change
- Support workforce planning and restructuring projects.
- Contribute to people policy and process improvements (e.g., recruitment, onboarding, departure processes).
- Act as a strategically minded partner in organisational change initiatives.
Talent & Retention
- Help shape learning and development strategies to build leadership capabilities.
- Collaborate on projects that enhance the organisation’s employee value proposition.
- Analyse workforce data to inform decision-making.
Stakeholder & Team Collaboration
- Work effectively across the People team, reporting to the Senior Organisational Change Manager.
- Build trusted relationships with leaders and managers at all levels.
- Communicate clearly and tactfully, even in challenging or sensitive situations.
Requirements
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- HR professional with 3+ years (generalist preferred) in a people-focused environment, ideally within a charity or education/healthcare sector.
- Strong working knowledge of UK employment law and best practices.
- Robust handling of employee relations, including performance, disciplinary, and grievance processes.
- CIPD qualification or equivalent recognised HR experience (desirable).
- Excellent communication skills—able to advice leaders and managers while maintaining judgement, discretion, and pragmatism.
- Strong problem-solving abilities with a proactive, solution-oriented approach.
- Experience in change management and facilitating workplace transitions.
