People Policy Manager
Are you passionate about creating clear, fair and practical people policies that help colleagues do their best work?
At Mencap, we are looking for a People Policy Manager to lead the review, development and communication of our people policies, procedures, contractual terms and guidance. This role will help ensure our policies are legally compliant, easy to understand and aligned with our values, behaviours and future plans.
Using your knowledge of employment law and people policy, you will turn complex legal and policy requirements into clear, practical guidance and help senior leaders understand key issues and recommended changes.

We are looking for someone who combines technical expertise with strong communication, judgement and collaboration skills, and who wants to make a real difference in a values-led organisation.
In this role you will:
- Lead the development and review of clear, legally compliant people policies and guidance.
- Translate employment law changes into practical updates for colleagues and managers.
- Consult with colleagues, gather feedback and support consistent policy application.
- Provide clear advice, updates and recommendations to senior leaders.
- Help ensure our policies are fair, inclusive, accessible and fit for purpose.
- Line manage the People Policy Advisor.

About you
You will bring strong experience in people policy and employment law, ideally gained in a complex organisation. You will write clearly, advise confidently and balance legal requirements with practical operational needs. Most importantly, you will share Mencap’s commitment to inclusion and to improving the lives of people with a learning disability and their families.
