People Systems & Reward Specialist (Fixed-Term Maternity Cover) – Woodgreen
Woodgreen is seeking an experienced People Systems & Reward Specialist to join our People Team on a 12-month fixed-term basis, providing maternity cover for a pivotal role within people operations.
This exciting opportunity is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of systems, data, payroll, and employee rewards, delivering an exceptional colleague experience while shaping strategic workforce decisions.
Reporting to the Head of People, this role requires expertise in:
- Managing payroll processes, ensuring accurate and timely payments for our team
- Leading our people systems, ensuring data integrity, compliance and easy usability
- Producing workforce insights, reports and dashboards for evidence-based decision-making
- Overseeing reward and benefits, improving processes and employee satisfaction
- Collaborating across the organisation to implement continuous improvement
Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for the following core areas:
- Payroll Delivery – Lead our monthly payroll process through our outsourced provider
- System Ownership – Act as superuser for our HRIS (CIPHR-style system), ensuring accuracy, compliance, and seamless functionality
- Data and Insights – Produce workforce reports, dashboards, and analytics to support business strategy
- Reward & Benefits Management – Support the development and administration of our rewards programme to maintain attractiveness for colleagues and volunteers
- Vendor Relations – Coordinate with payroll, pension, and benefits providers for optimal service
- Process Optimization – Driven automation, automation, and system enhancements to increase efficiency
- Policy Compliance – Ensure adherence to payroll, pension, data protection, and employment legislation
- Stakeholder Support – Provide guidance and training on system usage for managers and colleagues

Requirements
To succeed in this role, you should bring practical experience in:
- Managing or supporting payroll processes within a HR or finance setting
- Expertise with HR and people systems, particularly platforms like CIPHR or comparable HRIS
- Strong data analysis and reporting skills (including advanced Excel proficiency)
- Deep understanding of payroll legislation, statutory requirements, and compliance frameworks
- A proactive, analytical approach to continuing improvement and problem-solving
- Exceptional stakeholder management and communicational skills across diverse teams
- High accuracy, vigilance, and professional discretion when handling sensitive data

- Attractive Salary: £29,739–£33,043 (based on experience)
