Role Description

The Perfect Binding Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring perfect binding equipment to produce finished print materials to required quality and production standards. Day-to-day tasks include:

The role involves routine equipment checks, basic troubleshooting, and coordinating with prepress and finishing teams to meet deadlines and job specifications. Operators are expected to follow all safety procedures, maintain a clean and organized work area, and accurately record production data. This is a full-time, on-site role based in York.

Qualifications

  • Experience operating perfect binding or similar print finishing machinery, including set-up, adjustment, and basic maintenance.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality control skills, with the ability to inspect finished products and identify issues quickly.
  • Ability to read and follow job tickets, technical instructions, and production schedules accurately.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with press, prepress, and dispatch colleagues.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills to address minor equipment faults and improve efficiency.
  • Comfort with standing, lifting, and handling materials in a manufacturing environment, following all health and safety guidelines.
  • Previous experience in print, packaging, or manufacturing is an advantage; vocational or technical training in print production is beneficial.
  • Willingness to work full-time on-site in York, with flexibility for shift patterns or overtime as required.
