Job Description

At EDF, success is personal. We don’t define it – you do. Join our Performance Improvement Industrial Placement and you’ll shape your future, your way – while helping Britain achieve net zero. This is your chance to gain hands-on experience and contribute to the smooth running of nuclear operations.

"Electricity is such a vital component in everyone’s lives. It powers schools, businesses and hospitals, so I knew that if I did my placement within EDF then I would have a really large impact on society, and that made my placement a lot more fulfilling.” Priyanka, Science and Engineering Industrial Placement.

The Opportunity

This placement offers a salary of £26,050 per annum, pro rata to the length of the placement, and the chance to work at one of our key nuclear sites. You’ll join the Performance Improvement team at Heysham 1, where you’ll support daily operations and help drive meaningful change. The end date of this placement is September 2027.

You’ll gain experience in performance monitoring, data analysis, organisational learning and testing new training programmes. This placement offers a unique opportunity to work across multiple functions and develop a broad understanding of nuclear operations.

What You’ll Be Doing

During your Performance Improvement Industrial Placement, you’ll work at #Heysham 1 within the Performance Improvement department. Past students have supported safety campaigns, developed analytical methods to optimise performance, and helped prepare contractors for major projects.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
