About the Role
We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the Performance Manager role.
The UK COO Performance and Delivery team is responsible for the performance agenda for UK COO, where we manage day-to-day delivery while ensuring alignment with multi-year strategic outcomes. The team provides insights into UK COO performance, challenges initiatives, and executes actionable strategies to empower leaders with data-driven decision-making. Our mission is to build a high-performance culture—one that delivers better outcomes for customers and colleagues.
The Performance Manager will support the Head of Performance and Delivery in creating robust delivery plans. Responsibilities include managing scorecards—from planning to tracking—and ensuring objectives and key results (OKRs) are clear, measurable, and effective. Additional tasks involve providing insightful analysis to guide decisions, proactively challenging business owners where necessary, and holding stakeholders accountable for performance excellence.
This role reports to the Head of Performance and Delivery.

Key Responsibilities
• Partner with the UK COO leadership team to translate strategic priorities into clear annual balanced scorecard goals (measures, targets, weightings, and assessment criteria).
• Lead the development of self-proposed goals and metrics, ensuring specificity, measurability, and alignment with ** Group frameworks** alongside centrally established objectives. Refine proposed weightings to maintain balance.
• Agree and document the assessment methodology for each self-assessed goal, including:
- Metric definitions
- Target ranges
- Scoring approaches
- Evidence requirements
• Oversee the end-to-end goal management cycle:
- Refine goals, targets, weightings, and criteria based on feedback or analysis.
- Ensure UK COO maintains line-of-sight visibility across:
- Centrally assessed and self-assessed goals
- Key milestones
- Dependencies
- Potential risks
- Required remediation actions
• Establish a robust self-assessed goal tracking framework (data sources, stakeholder ownership, reporting templates) to support readiness for bi-annual reviews (H1, Q3, Q4).
• Facilitate regular review sessions with GCOO and UK CEO leadership:
- Consolidate evidence and draft succinct progress narratives.
- Support course correction discussions with the UK COO.
• Proactively identify and resolve potential threats to scorecard integrity, such as:
- Data gaps
- Ambiguous metrics
- Unrealistic targets
- Unintentional perverse incentives Offer timely escalations with solutions and recommendations.

Requirements
Successful candidates will demonstrate expertise in performance management roles and the following skills:
• Demonstrated experience in performance management roles is essential. • Strong analytical and attention to detail capabilities. • Excellent organisational skills to manage diverse tasks efficiently. • Exceptional communication skills, including crafting persuasive reports for internal and external stakeholders. • Beneficial background in target preparation, planning, and monitoring for large-scale functions. • Proactive self-starter capable of autonomous work. • Ability to build deep, strong, and trusted relationships throughout the organisation.
