We are supporting a major transformation programme and are seeking an experienced Performance Test Lead to drive the non-functional testing strategy and delivery across critical billing systems, integrations, and dual-run operations. This is a key role focused on ensuring business-critical systems remain scalable, stable, and performant during large-scale transformation and peak demand cycles.
The Role
As Performance Test Lead, you will own the end-to-end performance testing strategy, working closely with architects, developers, business stakeholders, and delivery teams to ensure robust performance assurance throughout the programme lifecycle. You will provide leadership across performance engineering activities, from workload modelling and test planning through to execution, analysis, reporting, and go-live sign-off.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and own the performance testing strategy aligned to programme milestones
- Lead workload modelling and realistic performance scenario design
- Define SLAs, NFRs, success criteria, and performance acceptance thresholds
- Oversee load, stress, endurance, and volume testing activities
- Drive performance analysis, bottleneck identification, and root cause investigations
- Provide performance reports, recommendations, and risk assessments to stakeholders
- Support dual-run operations and validate performance across legacy and target platforms
- Collaborate with development, architecture, infrastructure, and business teams
- Embed performance testing within Agile and DevOps delivery practices
- Lead performance sign-off activities and support go-live readiness decisions
- Mentor and guide performance engineers across the programme

Iβm in my final year doing Economics and I donβt know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer β it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) donβt need a masters. Letβs look at the ones youβd be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet β that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
