Peripatetic Chef
Peripatetic Chef Contract
Location: West and Central Fife (with travel to Perth, Dundee, Crieff, and Livingston)
Base Home: Oakbank Care Home, Countess Gardens, Crieff, PH7 3DP
- £16.64 per hour
- 40 hours per week (4 x 10-hour day shifts)
- Paid PVG check, pension, and uniform provided
- 5.6 weeks annual leave (based on a full-time contract)
- Mileage paid from base home
Role Overview
As a Peripatetic Chef, you will support multiple care homes across the region, providing cover for annual leave and sickness while upholding high standards of food quality, safety, and kitchen organisation.
Working across different services, you will:
- Prepare and deliver nutritious, well-balanced meals tailored to residents’ needs and preferences.
- Adapt to varying kitchens and teams, ensuring consistency and maintaining reliability.
- Support menu planning, stock control, and ordering while complying with food safety and health & safety standards.
- Provide guidance to kitchen teams, reinforcing good practices and a consistent approach.

What We Are Looking For
To succeed in this position, you should:
- Have previous experience working as a Chef in a professional kitchen.
- Be capable of working independently and managing workloads across multiple sites.
- Hold a strong understanding of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen processes.
- Possess:
- City & Guilds 706/1 and 706/2 qualification (or equivalent), or be working towards it.
- A Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.
- Demonstrate a flexible and reliable approach.
- Hold a full driving licence (essential).
