Peripatetic Receptionist Position
About the Role
We are proud to advertise a Peripatetic Receptionist role based at Werneth Primary Care Centre.
You will collaborate seamlessly as part of a compassionate, professional team, delivering outstanding reception and administrative support within a multi-site healthcare facility. Your role will ensure outstanding customer service, upholding efficient processes to assist tenants, visitors, and staff across multiple healthcare sites.
Key Responsibilities
This dynamic role involves supporting reception duties across five key buildings in Oldham, whilst ensuring seamless communication, administrative efficiency, and seamless visitor management. Specific responsibilities include:

Customer interactions:
- Act as the first point of contact for all arrivals, greeting visitors promptly and professionally
- Offer wayfinding support and orientation guidance to patients, staff, and contractors
- Provide general information and support to ensure smooth operations

Administrative and operational management:
- Handle appointment bookings for patients across all sites
- Log, track, and manage building faults, escalating as required
- Administer patient transport arrangements
- Manage room and facility bookings for on-site use
- Process mail, parcels, and deliveries efficiently

Security and logistical tasks:
- Oversee the ‘signing-in’ process and issue keys/fobs to authorised individuals
- Maintain a secure environment by adhering to access protocols
- Monitor and enforce carpark attendance and parking regulations

- Ensure reception and public areas are welcoming, organised, and clean at all times
- Keep notice boards up-to-date with accurate announcements and promotions
- Support any on-site events or outreach activities

Emergency contact management:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date contact records for key personnel, tenants, and emergency contacts

Handling enquiries and complaints:
- Address caller concerns or escalate complaints to management for resolution
- Smooth information flow with line managers and staff while keeping lines of communication open
Requirements
Personal Attributes
- Customer-focused with the ability to deliver consistent and high-quality administrative support
- High degree of organisation and a proven track record in a multi-tasking environment
- Empathy, professionalism, and patience in high-pressure situations
- Discretion and confidentiality denoted by ability to handle sensitive information responsibly
- Dependable and adaptable — capable of moving between sites with minimal notice
- Engagement and active listening skills to respond effectively to diverse queries
Experience & Logistics
- Experience within a healthcare or administrative environment, ideally in a reception role or multi-site facility
- Mobility is essential — ideally with the ability to drive and possess a car due to site requirements (Unable to fulfil this requirement? See candidate notes at the bottom)
Working Arrangements
- Hours: 30 hours per week, with shifts from Monday–Friday 08:00–18:30, though flexible hours accommodating patient flows may be required
- Must be available and consistent with the posted schedule
