The Position
An exciting permanent opportunity has arisen for a Peritoneal Dialysis Nurse Specialist at University Hospital Crosshouse.
Key Details
-
Hours: 20 hours per week across 3 days (with flexible working arrangements).

Occasional on-call obligations: 1 in 3 weekends.

From 1 April 2026:
- NHS Scotland will reduce working hours for full-time staff to 36 hours (without loss of earnings).
- Part-time roles (e.g., 20 hours) will be prorated accordingly.

UK Driving Licence: Essential for this role (full UK, EU, or EEA licence required).
What You Will Do
You will join our Peritoneal Dialysis (PD) Team, a small group of specialist nurses responsible for:
- Overall nursing assessment, training, education, and evaluation of PD care for patients in Ayrshire and Arran.
- Ensuring patients and their families have ph psychological, emotional, and practical support to perform dialysis safely at home.
- Working autonomously but under the guidance of the Lead Peritoneal Dialysis Nurse Specialist.
- Collaborating multidisciplinarily in our culture of safety, care, and respect.

Requirements
Must-Have Knowledge, Training & Experience
- Registration: Current NMC registration as a Registered Nurse.
- Experience: Substantial post-registration experience, with significant specialist renal/PD exposure.
- Education: Degree (or equivalent professional qualifications).
- Skills:
- Excellent communication and organisational capabilities.
- Keen interest in patient training and education.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
