Position
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Peritoneal Dialysis Nurse Specialist based at University Hospital Crosshouse. This post is offered on a permanent basis.
Hours
- 20.00 hours per week over 3 days. Flexible working hours are available. (1 in 3 on call weekends).
From 1 April 2026, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change staff in Scotland will be reduced. Full-time hours will reduce from 37 to 36 hours (pro rata for part-time staff) without loss of earnings.
UK Driving Licence
A UK driving licence is essential for this role.
What You Will Do
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic renal nurse to join our Peritoneal Dialysis (PD) Team. You will be part of a small team of specialist nurses who are responsible for the overall nursing assessment, training, implementation and evaluation of care for patients on PD with Ayrshire and Arran.
Our aim is to ensure patients and their families are physically, emotionally and psychologically supported to enable them to dialysis safely at home. The post holder will work autonomously but under the direction of the Lead Peritoneal Dialysis Nurse Specialist.

Knowledge, Training And/or Experience Required For This Post
- Essentially you must possess excellent communication and organisational skills and have a keen interest in patient training and education.
- You must have the ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- You will be a Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
- Substantial years post registration experience, with significant experience in the speciality is essential.
- Degree or equivalent experience.
