For a young gentleman in Kilmaurs

1 post Hours flexible from 10 up to 18 per week

(Available early mornings :7am – 9:15am some full days 7-4:30pm

Some evenings 6-8pm and Saturday daytime)

Salary

Living wage rate – £13.73 per hr , wages are paid 4 weekly in arrears by a payroll service.

Annual Leave

5.6 weeks paid Annual leave pro rata for contracted staff

Days of work / times required

Job Purpose

Young man who has Down’s syndrome & Autism and associated sensory related challenges and learning disabilities alongside developmental delays. Also has chronic reflux disease.

The support person-

Male, youthful, fit & energetic, fun loving, active and not afraid to be silly. Likes to dance & sing.

Must be Patient, kind & sensitive

Be firm but gentle, assertive but calm.

Be able to swim

Clearly spoken, calm slow speech.

Experience

Experience of supporting someone with Down’s syndrome & Autism would be advantageous but full shadow trading and supportive strategies & approach will be provided.

Previous experience of supporting people with communication difficulties and sensory challenges.

Knowledge of Makaton sign also advantageous.

Education/early years training /experience also useful to support continued development with literacy & numeracy

The Job

Supporting and promoting development of independence for a young man each morning to :

get washed & dressed

Make breakfast

Eating and drinking support

taking medication

Washing dishes

Get ready to go out for the day / brush teeth/ hair etc

Supporting travel to and participation in day to day activities such as Ten pin bowling, gym, swimming, all ability bikes

Support at home after day to wash & tidy packed lunch dishes,

Stay safe

Hours (initially with opportunity to increase )

7am – 9am Monday

7am or 9am – 4:30pm Tuesday

7am – 9:15am Wednesday, Thursday & Friday

10am – 1pm or 11am – 2pm Alternate Saturdays

6:15 – 8:15pm Friday
