About The Employer

Support worker/carer required for a young non-verbal man with additional needs during school holidays and occasional other times. The role includes supporting him both at home and out in the community, helping him access activities he enjoys, and providing personal care support as he is double incontinent. Duties will include:

  • Supporting with outings and activities
  • Preparing/providing food and drinks
  • Personal care support
  • Helping maintain a safe, calm and enjoyable environment
  • Using communication methods including Makaton and PECS

The ideal person will:

  • Be caring, patient and reliable
  • Have experience supporting people with additional needs/autism/non-verbal communication
  • Have an understanding of Makaton and PECS
  • Be comfortable around dogs
  • Ideally have their own car and full driving licence

This is a rewarding role supporting a lovely young man with a good sense of humour and his own routines and interests.

About The Role

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Support and/or prompt with personal care. This may include toileting, showering/bathing, getting in and out of bed, getting dressed.
  • Support and/or prompt with cooking/meal preparation and eating meals/drinks.
  • Develop a good and trusting one to one working relationship.

The individuals needs may vary from day to day and your tasks may reflect this. You could be required to perform other duties as reasonably required.

You have a responsibility as an employee to report all accidents to the employer immediately. You have a duty to report defects and / or hazards which may give rise to an accident. You are to ensure the safety of the individual at all times.

Transport Requirement

Car driver and car owner – must have business insurance.

Hours per week

  • 6 hours a week term time
  • 12 hours per week in school holidays, mainly to be worked evenings and weekends.
