About the Employer

I am both the employer and mother to my son who has been allocated direct payment for PA support. My son has Autism (ASD), PICA and is nonverbal. I am seeking a PA to provide my son with 1-1 support to access social activities within the community and provide me with a break from my caring role. My son is nonverbal however; he can communicate effectively in relation to his needs and wants and will lead by hand when he wants to go somewhere. He is an energetic child and enjoys being active. He loves the outdoors, play parks, trampoline parks, going to the beach, soft play areas and accessing sensory activities or venues. My son has access to a push chair when out and about to assist when he is tired or to help him feel safe and calm in busier environments. He requires a PA to assist with personal care to assist him in going to the toilet as he wears nappies to manage any accidents. Due to his vulnerability, he can place himself at risk, as he has little understanding of situations or things that could cause him harm. He will place objects or any accessible materials or liquids in his mouth, so close supervision is essential.

Summary of Duties

The successful personal assistant will support my son in accessing new activities and experiences in the local community. You will support him in developing his social skills and help him build confidence. There is a requirement to support him with personal care at times if on an outing, as he does wear nappies. The role is to befriend and offer companionship with a view to extending his support network. It is desirable that the personal assistant will be expected to use their own car otherwise public transport can be used. His needs may vary from day to day and your tasks may reflect this. You could be required to perform other duties as reasonably required.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
