Description
We are seeking an Assistant Lawyer to join our team, specialising in managing a caseload of straightforward fast track ex portal accident cases, including Employers’ Liability (EL) and Public Liability (PL) matters.
The Role
- You will manage a full caseload of fast track ex portal accident cases (EL, PL), handling all aspects from initiation to conclusion.
- Key responsibilities include:
- Identifying cases requiring transfer across the wider branch network due to value, complexity, or specialist needs.
- Applying sound judgement in day-to-day case decisions, supervised by the wider team.
- Ensuring compliance with court directions, including:
- Issuing and serving proceedings
- Responding to defences
- Handling interim applications
- Progressing claims to trial when necessary.

Requirements (Who We Are Looking For)
We are seeking experienced lawyers with the following strengths:
- Subject-matter expertise: A robust understanding of personal injury law, the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR), evidence rules, and litigation processes.
- Hands-on experience: Proven track record managing fast track EL and PL personal injury claims.
- Independent judgement: Ability to run a caseload efficiently, advising on liability, quantum and evidence with minimal supervision.
- Soft skills:
- Clear, consistent communication for a smooth litigation journey.
- Proactive, empathetic demeanour to maintain strong client and team relationships.
