Optimal Solicitors is growing its Serious Injury team and we’re looking for an experienced Personal Injury Solicitor to handle a quality caseload of intermediate-track and mid-value multi-track claimant PI matters, typically valued between £25,000 and £250,000.
This is a great opportunity for a solicitor who enjoys high-quality claimant work, wants real autonomy over their files, and is looking for a supportive team where client care matters just as much as technical ability. You’ll handle a mix of EL, PL and RTA claims, together with selected clinical negligence matters, and play an important role in helping clients secure the justice, rehabilitation and support they need.
What you’ll need
- Solid claimant personal injury litigation experience, ideally across intermediate-track and/or multi-track matters
- Strong working knowledge of EL, PL and RTA claims
- Confidence dealing with liability, causation and quantum
- Experience managing your own caseload from instruction through to settlement or trial
- Excellent communication and client-care skills
- A commercial, organised and proactive approach to case progression
- Experience using Proclaim is helpful
- Clinical negligence experience is welcome but not essential

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
