Key accountabilities

The opportunity

As a Personal Tax Assistant Manager, you oversee the preparation and review of personal tax returns, managing junior staff and ensuring compliance with UK tax regulations. You will work in a newly formed, collaborative team, be tasked with reviewing tax computations and ensuring that all work adheres to our high standards for quality and efficiency, leveraging advanced technology to streamline processes and improve accuracy. By leading your team with a focus on both technical excellence and innovation, you will help us deliver smarter, more efficient, and personalised tax services. Your role will ensure that we maintain our reputation for high-quality service delivery while embracing the future of tax through automation and digital tools.

Day to day duties

  • Lead, manage, and inspire team members to achieve their full potential while aligning with the strategic objectives of the business.
  • Monitor team performance against KPIs, proactively addressing areas for improvement to maintain and enhance service delivery standards.
  • Conduct detailed quality reviews, resolve escalations efficiently, and ensure adherence to compliance and service excellence standards.
  • Act as a second-line contact for clients, providing tailored solutions to complex challenges and enhancing client satisfaction.
  • Identify opportunities to deliver value-added advisory services and coordinate with relevant teams to drive business growth.
  • Ensure the team operates within all technical, quality, and risk frameworks, consistently exceeding client service expectations.

What we're looking for?

  • Holds an accountancy and/or tax qualification or qualified by experience (e.g. ATT/CTA/ACA/ACCA/CA).
  • Has a sound knowledge of technical and professional standards, and can draw on this to support colleagues and clients in specific and relevant areas.
  • Confident in training others in technical knowledge.
  • Be able to develop bid and pricing proposals for non-complex work.
