Personal Tax Associate
Woking | £35,000 - £45,000 | Office-based/Hybrid
Please note: This role is best suited to candidates who already live within approximately a 30-minute drive of Woking and are happy to commute to the office.
Are you an experienced Personal Tax Associate looking to join a friendly, well-established accountancy practice where you'll work closely with private clients, owner-managed businesses and high-net-worth individuals?
We're looking for someone with hands-on UK personal tax experience who can hit the ground running and become a valued member of a growing tax team.
The Role
You'll work across a varied portfolio of private clients, providing high-quality personal tax compliance support while building strong client relationships.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing and reviewing Self Assessment tax returns.
- Working with private clients, directors, sole traders and owner-managed businesses.
- Preparing personal tax computations.
- Assisting with Capital Gains Tax and property income matters.
- Liaising directly with HMRC.
- Supporting clients with tax queries and compliance matters.
- Managing your own workload and ensuring statutory deadlines are consistently met.
- Building long-term relationships with clients and colleagues.

About You
We're keen to hear from people who have experience of:
- Preparing UK Self Assessment tax returns.
- Personal tax compliance within a UK accountancy practice.
- HMRC correspondence and client communication.
- Capital Gains Tax and/or property income.
- Working with private clients, landlords or owner-managed businesses.
- Tax software such as TaxCalc, IRIS or CCH.

This role is unlikely to be suitable if your experience is primarily within:
- Audit.
- Management Accounting.
- Industry Finance.
- Corporate Tax.
- Graduate or trainee accounting roles without hands-on UK personal tax experience.
