About Sweeting & Smedley

Sweeting & Smedley Limited is a well-established accountancy practice based in Hurst, Berkshire. We work with a broad range of SME clients and pride ourselves on providing a friendly, professional and personal service.

Due to continued demand, we are looking for an experienced Tax Manager to join our team and support the Tax Director in delivering high-quality tax compliance and advisory services.

This is a hands-on, client-facing role, ideal for someone who enjoys managing their own portfolio, working closely with clients, and being part of a collaborative and supportive practice environment.

The Role

As Tax Manager, you will take responsibility for a varied portfolio of personal tax clients, ensuring compliance work is completed accurately and on time. You will also support the Tax Director with advisory projects, tax planning and more complex client matters.

You will act as a key point of contact for clients, build strong relationships, and provide guidance to junior members of the team.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
