Personal Tax Senior Manager

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and ambitious Personal Tax Senior Manager to play a key role in the continued growth and development of our private client tax offering.

This position provides the opportunity to work on a broad range of complex personal tax matters, combining advisory, compliance, team leadership, and business development responsibilities. The successful candidate will contribute to the ongoing improvement of processes, client service delivery, and technical excellence within the team.

Key Responsibilities

Tax Advisory

  • Provide advice and support across a range of personal tax matters, including:
    • International tax planning and advisory.
    • Tax considerations for individuals moving to and from the UK.
    • Statutory residence matters and cross-border tax issues.
    • Foreign income and gains planning.
    • Temporary repatriation planning.
    • Remittance basis considerations and transitional tax rules.
    • Overseas asset and income structures.
    • Inheritance tax planning.
    • Capital gains tax planning and advisory.
    • Profit extraction and remuneration planning.

Compliance

  • Manage a portfolio of private clients, including complex tax affairs.
  • Prepare and review personal tax returns.
  • Review tax compliance work prepared by other team members.
  • Review annual property-related tax filings and related compliance returns.
  • Review employment-related tax reporting and disclosure obligations.

Team Leadership & Operations

  • Provide line management and support to junior team members.
  • Manage work in progress, budgeting, and billing responsibilities.
  • Contribute to business development and networking activities.
  • Review and improve team processes to support quality, efficiency, and risk management.
  • Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge and communicate relevant developments across the team.

Skills & Experience

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Strong numerical, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational and time management abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications, including Word, Excel, and collaboration tools.
  • Strong client relationship management skills and a commitment to excellent client service.
  • Experience managing a substantial portfolio of personal tax clients.
  • Knowledge of residency and international tax matters.
  • Understanding of trust structures and related tax compliance requirements.
  • Experience using personal tax software packages.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities.
