Job Description: Pet Health Checker (Part-time, Llandudno)

Salary: £13.11 per hour Hours: Part-time (8–12 hours per week) Hours of Work: 07:00–12:00 Contract: Fixed-term (1 year) Location: C3, Mostyn Champneys Retail Park, Charlotte Road, Llandudno, LL30 1HA

About the Role

We are looking for a passionate and compassionate Pet Health Checker to join our Pet Delivery Team in Llandudno. This role is all about ensuring pet welfare is our top priority.

At Pets at Home, we care about creating a friendly, safe, and welcoming environment for pet owners. We’re looking for someone who loves pets and understands their importance in the lives of their owners.

A full/clean driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities

As a Pet Health Checker, your primary duties include:

  • Conducting thorough health checks on a variety of small animals, including rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils, and rats, and ensuring optimal welfare before transport.

  • Preparing pets for delivery to our stores.

  • Maintaining records of pet health assessments and ensuring consistency with care protocols.

  • Cleaning and disinfecting pet enclosures, equipment, and site facilities to prevent disease and cross-contamination.

  • Managing inventory, including ordering supplies such as PPE, grooming, and cleaning equipment, as well as pet food and bedding.

  • Enhancing hygiene standards and supporting our disease management policies.

  • Collaborating effectively with team members, following management guidelines, and maintaining strong communication with colleagues and stakeholders.

  • Staying updated with training and pet welfare best practices.

What We’re Looking For

You should have:

✔ A genuine belief in our core value: "We put pets first."

✔ A clean driving licence (access to a vehicle is a must).

✔ Strong customer service and communication skills.

✔ Excellent time management and organisation with high attention to detail.

✔ Experience in animal care, farm work, or a similar environment (desirable but not essential).

✔ Ability to work independently while also being a team player.

✔ Ability to make quick, thoughtful decisions when needed.
