Clinical Pharmacist – varkey Summary

An exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, enthusiastic, and passionate clinical pharmacist to join our expanding integrated pharmacy team. You will be part of a unique patient-focused role based at Glan Clwyd Hospital within the Central Integrated Healthcare Community (CIHC), a redeveloped department housing specialist regional services like the North Wales Cancer Treatment Centre, North Wales Cardiac Centre, and the Sub-Regional Neonatal Intensive Care Centre (SuRNICC).


About the Role

The successful candidate will be an experienced clinical pharmacist, with the potential for an independent prescribing qualification. You will provide clinical leadership across ward-based teams, the IHC, and broader services, working collaboratively with pharmacists, technicians, and multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver clinical pharmacy services with advanced expertise across patient care pathways
  • Support multidisciplinary teams, advocating clinical standards in primary, community, and secondary care
  • Supervise and mentor junior team members
  • Develop protocols and guidelines to improve practice
  • Provide emergency, public holiday, and on-call services as required
  • Commit to self-directed learning and personal development

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • MPharm degree or equivalent
  • Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Postgraduate MSc/Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy (or equivalent experience)

Desirable

  • Accredited/eligible as a HEI Clinical Pharmacy tutor
  • Non-medical prescribing qualification (e.g., Independent Prescribing)

Experience

Essential

  • Broad post-registration clinical practice

Desirable

  • Specialist area experience (e.g., oncology, ICU, paediatrics)

Aptitude & Abilities

Essential

  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • IT-literate and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work in multidisciplinary settings
  • Team-oriented, motivated, and responsive
