Responsible Pharmacist – Distribution Centre
Reports to: Pharmacy Manager
Hours & Shift Pattern
- 42.5 hours per week
- 5 days/week, 8.5 hours/shift (including 30-minute unpaid lunch)
- Scheduled either Sunday–Thursday or Monday–Friday, between 7am and 7pm
About the Role
We’re seeking a dedicated and proactive Pharmacist to fulfil the role of Responsible Pharmacist at our brand-new Distribution Centre. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a new team from day one, supporting the full operational setup and ensuring seamless delivery of pharmacy services while maintaining:
- Safe, efficient, and compliance driven operations.
- Strict adherence to UK pharmacy regulations and professional standards.

Responsibilities
Core Oversight & Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with:
- UK pharmacy regulations (GPhC)
- Legal & professional standards
- Collaborate with Pharmacy Manager, Superintendent Pharmacist, Operations Director to:
- Deliver KPIs
- Implement company strategy
- Monitor team performance

Daily Pharmacy Operations
- Oversee dispensing prescriptions
- Manage inventory, quality control, safety, and productivity
- Lead health & safety initiatives
Supervision & Training
- Supervise pharmacy & support staff in the absence of the Pharmacy Manager
- Provide training, guidance, and support to ensure SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) compliance
Regulatory & Risk Management
- Pharmacies security, including key holding (post-probation)
- Loss prevention and inventory control
- Regulatory risk identification & mitigation, in alignment with:
- Pharmacy Manager
- Superintendent Pharmacist
- Responsible Person
Staff Development & Recruitment
- Support pharmacy staff recruitment (interviews & induction plans)
Documentation & Tranparency
- Maintain accurate records for:
- Prescriptions
- Regulatory documentation
- Pharmacy transactions
Patient Privacy & Contingency
- Protect confidentiality & security of patient data
- Develop disaster recovery plans for service continuity
Sales & Performance Tracking
- Ensure customer service excellence in pharmacy operations
- Monitor & report pharmacy KPIs daily to the Pharmacy Manager, including:
- Orders completed/incomplete
- Returns
- Productivity stats
- Inventory levels

Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- Qualified Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm) or MPharm Degree
- UK-registered Pharmacist with a valid license
- In-depth knowledge of GPhC regulations
Leadership & Soft Skills
- Strong leadership with ability to mentor and motivate team members
- Exceptional communication & interpersonal skills
- Attention to detail and ability to multitask in fast-paced environments
Technical Proficiency
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.)
Additional
- Analytical & problem-solving skills
- Flexibility for:
- Commuting across all Healthxchange sites
- Working 7am–7pm shifts
