Pharmacy Assistant – Stores

At Hinchingbrooke Hospital, there is the opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Pharmacy Assistant – Stores to join our committed and friendly Pharmacy Stores team.

You will have a variety of duties within the department, involving the timely supply of drugs to all our service users including but not limited to the wards, clinics and departments within the Trust. As part of a team you will perform tasks such as visiting wards for the topping up service, picking stock from the pharmacy store, booking stock, stock taking, stock disposing, assisting with the reduction of waste and taking telephone requests from the wards and assisting with queries according to stores procedures.

Full training will be provided in the department.

The successful candidate will be working Monday to Friday and will also participate in the department Saturday/Sunday/Bank Holiday rotation through the dispensary area.

Recognised Pharmacy Services qualification or equivalent is required, however, experience of working in a stores or pharmaceutical related/hospital environment would be an advantage. Friendly, reliable and approachable personality and a willingness to learn is essential.

Purpose of the Job

To assist the Chief Pharmacist in providing comprehensive specialist pharmaceutical care and medicines management by the provision of safe, appropriate and effective clinical pharmacy services North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust, and areas supplied under Service Level Agreements, ensuring compliance with current medicines legislation.

To provide technical assistance and support to the pharmacy teams across the pharmacy service, ensuring a safe, accurate and timely approach in all tasks undertaken.

To ensure the cost effective and timely supply of drugs and pharmacy products to all our service users. To contribute towards the effective maintenance and control of Pharmacy stock both within the Pharmacy directorate and the Trust as a whole and including all other service users.

We are committed to supporting colleagues through organisational change. Priority will be given to staff at risk within North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust and Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Integrated Care Board
