Pharmacy Dispenser
Pharmacy Dispenser – Interim Role
About the Role
We’re seeking a detail-oriented and patient-focused Pharmacy Dispenser to join our team at the Thorncliffe Aseptic Unit on an interim basis. In this role, you will support the day-to-day dispensing, ordering, and supply of pharmacy products for homecare patients, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and a high standard of service.
You’ll work closely with pharmacists, technicians, and wider internal teams to deliver a seamless patient experience and support the safe and efficient running of pharmacy operations.
- Working hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday
- Location: Thorncliffe Park, Sheffield, S35 2PW (just off Junction 35A of the M1)

Main Responsibilities

Service Delivery
- Support the pharmacy team with dispensing prescriptions, preparing patient deliveries, and ensuring timely and accurate supply of products to homecare patients.

Dispensing & Order Management
- Pick, dispense, and prepare pharmacy items.
- Upload prescriptions to systems.
- Coordinate deliveries with couriers.

Stock Management & Control
- Maintain appropriate stock levels.
- Carry out stock rotations.
- Manage returns and disposals, and liaise with internal teams regarding discrepancies.

Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to GDP guidelines, SOPs, and GPhC standards.
- Support reporting of incidents, near misses, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Cross-functional Collaboration
- Work with internal departments to support patient transitions from hospital to home.
- Ensure an efficient end-to-end service.
Requirements
Must-Have Qualifications & Experience
- GCSE Mathematics and English (or equivalent).
- None qualifying dispensary experience
Desirable Experience & Qualifications
- Dispensing Assistant qualification (Level 2 or equivalent).
- Experience working in a pharmacy dispensary, distribution, or warehouse environment.
- Experience using SAP or warehouse management systems (a plus).
