Pharmacy Dispenser

Pharmacy Dispenser – Interim Role

About the Role

We’re seeking a detail-oriented and patient-focused Pharmacy Dispenser to join our team at the Thorncliffe Aseptic Unit on an interim basis. In this role, you will support the day-to-day dispensing, ordering, and supply of pharmacy products for homecare patients, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and a high standard of service.

You’ll work closely with pharmacists, technicians, and wider internal teams to deliver a seamless patient experience and support the safe and efficient running of pharmacy operations.

  • Working hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday
  • Location: Thorncliffe Park, Sheffield, S35 2PW (just off Junction 35A of the M1)
  • Perks: Free car parking available

Main Responsibilities

  • Service Delivery

    • Support the pharmacy team with dispensing prescriptions, preparing patient deliveries, and ensuring timely and accurate supply of products to homecare patients.
  • Dispensing & Order Management

    • Pick, dispense, and prepare pharmacy items.
    • Upload prescriptions to systems.
    • Coordinate deliveries with couriers.
  • Stock Management & Control

    • Maintain appropriate stock levels.
    • Carry out stock rotations.
    • Manage returns and disposals, and liaise with internal teams regarding discrepancies.

  • System & Process Support

    • Use SAP and internal systems to:
      • Create deliveries.
      • Manage pick lists.
      • Maintain accurate patient and product records.
  • Quality Assurance & Compliance

    • Ensure adherence to GDP guidelines, SOPs, and GPhC standards.
    • Support reporting of incidents, near misses, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration

    • Work with internal departments to support patient transitions from hospital to home.
    • Ensure an efficient end-to-end service.

Requirements

Must-Have Qualifications & Experience

  • GCSE Mathematics and English (or equivalent).
  • None qualifying dispensary experience

Desirable Experience & Qualifications

  • Dispensing Assistant qualification (Level 2 or equivalent).
  • Experience working in a pharmacy dispensary, distribution, or warehouse environment.
  • Experience using SAP or warehouse management systems (a plus).

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling prescriptions and stock.
  • Patient-focused approach with a commitment to high-quality service.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in internal teams.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
