Pharmacy Technician

Pharmacy Technician – Woodland Hospital, Kettering

Full-time (37.5 hours per week)

We are excited to invite Pharmacy Technicians/ACTs to join our expanding pharmacy team at Woodland Hospital, located in Kettering. As a key member of the department, you will play a critical role in delivering pharmacy services, including ordering, stock control, and the preparation of drugs and medicines. You will also contribute to staff development, support process improvements, and work closely with a dedicated team renowned for excellence in patient care.


Where You’ll Be Based

The Woodland Hospital is one of Northamptonshire’s leading private and NHS "Choose & Book" hospitals, at the forefront of medical innovation and patient-centred care. With:

  • Four operating theatres
  • Day-case and inpatient wards
  • An MRI scanner
  • Consulting rooms
  • A wide range of specialities

The pharmacy team also supports Glendon Hospital, specialising in eye surgery and endoscopy.

Key Responsibilities

Our Pharmacy Technicians are essential to ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality care. Your core duties include:

Clinical & Operational Duties

  • Ensuring accurate and legal dispensing of all inpatient and outpatient prescriptions in line with Ramsay Health Care policies
  • Supporting the manufacture of pharmacy goods
  • Checking Inpatient Prescription Record Charts to confirm:
    • Appropriate clinical and financial treatment
    • Sufficient medication supplies for patients

Support & Patient Advice

  • Providing phARMaceutical advice to:
    • Patients and carers
    • Clinical staff
  • Collaborating with pharmacists to optimise patient care

Training & Compliance

  • Supervising, training, and coaching new staff (where applicable)
  • Adhering to GPhC (General Pharmaceutical Council) standards on ethics, conduct, and performance
  • Maintaining strict standards of patient confidentiality in line with Ramsay policies

Flexible Commitment

  • Participation in weekend and bank holiday rotas on a rotational basis

Requirements

Essential Qualifications & Skills

  • NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services or BTEC in Pharmaceutical Science (or equivalent)
  • Membership of the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
  • 4 GCSEs (A-C) or equivalent in:
    • English
    • Maths
    • Science
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to:
    • Work effectively in teams and independently
    • Demonstrate customer service excellence
  • Excellent computer literacy
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and a fast-paced environment

Desirable (but not essential)

  • Previously worked in a hospital setting
