Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician

Reporting to: Pharmacy Manager
Location: Manchester Pharmacy (M22 5LB)
Hours: Full time, 42.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Package: Competitive salary + annual bonus

About the Role

You will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient handling, storage, and distribution of aesthetic & pharmaceutical products. This position also involves additional responsibilities such as assisting the Responsible Pharmacist in final accuracy checking of all prescription, cosmetic and stock orders, inbound product receipt, supporting with training new and existing staff members with accurate dispensing of orders, conducting daily stock counts, and addressing customer and internal queries.

Responsibilities

  • Picking, packing and accuracy check:

    • Accurately pick and pack orders for delivery to various locations.
    • Prepare pharmaceutical products for shipment in compliance with regulations.
    • Final accuracy check of items included within orders, following pharmacist clinical check of prescriptions.
    • Effective checking and spotting of dispensing errors.
    • Reporting of dispensing errors and near misses to the Responsible Pharmacist/ Pharmacy Manager.
    • Uphold professional General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) standards for pharmacy professionals.
  • Receiving and Inspecting Deliveries:

    • Receive, inspect, and verify incoming product shipments.
    • Ensure all items match the accompanying documentation.
    • Report any discrepancies or damages to the relevant internal stakeholders.
  • Storage and Inventory Management:

    • Safely and securely store pharmaceutical products in designated areas.
    • Maintain accurate inventory records using internal stock control systems.
    • Monitor expiration dates and ensure proper rotation of stock.
    • Process product returns, ensuring adherence to company policies.

Requirements

  • High volume Dispensary checking experience in either Hospital, Pharmacy hub or Retail Pharmacy environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • High level of dispensing accuracy.
  • Spots dispensing errors well and reports as appropriate.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • IT proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work effectively under pressure.
  • Team player.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 (Or BTEC equivalent) Pharmaceutical Services.
  • ACPT Qualification.
  • To maintain and be registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the GPhC.
  • Maintain Continuing Professional Development in accordance with GPhC Professional Standards
