Pharmacy Technician
Pharmacy Technician – Early Intervention in Psychosis (Kent and Medway NHS Trust)
We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated, and compassionate Pharmacy Technician to provide and develop a clinical pharmacy service within our Early Intervention in Psychosis (EIP) Service. This is a pioneering clinical role, delivering tailored patient care in a community setting with opportunities for professional growth and a strong work-life balance.
About the Role
The Pharmacy Technician will work alongside a Pharmacist as part of the multidisciplinary EIP team. Located at St Martin’s Hospital (Canterbury), the role is flexible, requiring travel across all six EIP localities in Kent and Medway.
Professional development is encouraged, including accredited medicine management qualifications and NHS leadership courses.
Key Responsibilities
The primary focus is ensuring safe, evidence-based pharmacological care, with a focus on:
- Managing adverse drug reactions
- Improving medication adherence and treatment compliance
- Supporting early access to clozapine for patients with early-onset schizophrenia
- Enhancing physical health outcomes for patients
- Promoting value-based practice alongside evidence-based care

Core Duties Include:
✅ Attending multidisciplinary team meetings across localities ✅ Providing specialist medication advice ✅ Patient education and counselling on treatment plans ✅ Medication reviews and medication history reconciliations ✅ Developing teaching and educational programmes for patients and carers
The Pharmacy Technician will collaborate with:
- The Clinical Pharmacist within the EIP service
- Healthcare professionals (doctors, psychologists, nurses, etc.)
- health professionals within a multidisciplinary setting
Key beneficiaries of support include:
- Individuals experiencing early psychosis
- Families and carers of first-episode psychosis patients
Person Specification
Essential Requirements:
✔ Hold a full, valid UK driving licence ✔ Have access to a vehicle for business travel (or evidence of a disability exemption under the Equality Act 2010)

- Previous experience in mental health pharmacy or community-based clinical roles
- Strong compassion and communication skills
- Ability to work flexibly across a wide geographical region
