The Role

An executive opportunity is available for a skilled and motivated Pharmacy Technician to join Primary Care Pharmacy Services in West Dunbartonshire HSCP as a Pharmacy Technician Team Leader.

As a senior member of the team, you will lead the delivery of the Pharmacotherapy Service, focusing on service development, operational planning, and workforce education. Collaborating closely with GPs, multidisciplinary teams, and community stakeholders, you will enhance medicines management and foster high-quality, evidence-based patient care across:

  • GP practices
  • Care homes
  • Other community settings

Key Responsibilities

As the Team Leader, your core responsibilities will include:

Strategic Leadership & Operational Support

  • Lead service development and operational planning within the Primary Care Pharmacy Services.
  • Oversee the education and development of prescribing support pharmacy technicians and pharmacy support workers.

Collaborative Practice

  • Work with GPs, community pharmacies, care homes, social work, and other multidisciplinary teams.
  • Promote the safe, effective, and cost-efficient use of medicines.

Improvement & Implementation

  • Support evidence-based prescribing strategies.
  • Drive continuous service improvements.
  • Provide leadership and operational support to ensure high-quality pharmacotherapy services.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  • Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
  • Significant post-qualification experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
  • Broad understanding of pharmacy technical practice.
  • Management qualification or proven experience in:
    • Managing staff
    • Supervising junior team members
  • Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to motivate and develop teams.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and organisational abilities.
  • Strong IT competencies.
  • Desirable experience in:
    • Primary Care settings.
    • Working within multidisciplinary teams.
    • SQA Work-Based Assessor qualification (or progress toward it).
