Medicine Management Pharmacist Technician - Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust
About the Role
Are you looking for a new challenge and the opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge?
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced and registered Pharmacy Technician to join the friendly, hardworking and well-established Medicine Management (MMT) pharmacy team at Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust. You will be responsible for delivering a safe, efficient, and accurate ward-based service for virtual ward and hospital in-patients, including:
- Medicines reconciliation
- Patient counselling
- Ensuring safe and timely discharges
The role offers opportunities for further education, training, and the chance to advance the role of Pharmacy Technicians within the department. You may also support the main dispensary in providing an extended-hour service. This position will require expanding and broadening your skills and abilities.
Note: This role includes cross-site working—ability to commute between sites is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct support to ward-based teams, covering both in-patients and virtual ward patients within Community Services.
- Prioritise workload to ensure a Medicines Management Service for all patients.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and coordinate with other pharmacy sections, including:
- Completion of Safe and Secure Handling of Medication (SASHM) and Controlled Drug audits
- Supervision and training of assistants and students
- Offer flexible working hours to meet operational demands.

Requirements
Experience & Qualifications
Applicants must have:
- Proven experience delivering pharmaceutical services in a pharmacy setting.
- One of the following qualifications, or their equivalent:
- NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services
- BTEC (Pharmaceutical Science) or Level 3 Diploma in Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians
- Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPC)
Technician Competencies (ACT Level)
Must be, or working towards being, a competent Advanced Check Technician (ACT) to routinely perform accuracy checks on:
- Individually dispensed items for in-patients
- Discharges
- Controlled drugs in both dispensary and ward environments
