Role: PhD Data Scientist (Statistics Expert) (Remote)

Locations: Remote (available for residents in: United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, United Kingdom, New Zealand, Australia, Mexico, or Argentina)


About the Role

One of our clients is seeking Statistics Experts who can teach AI how to interpret and solve complex quantitative problems. As a domain expert in this role, you’ll:

  • Design rigorous analytical prompts
  • Evaluate AI-generated responses for statistical accuracy and relevance
  • Ensure frontier AI models adhere to the highest standards of quantitative reasoning

The position is fully remote, with a flexible schedule.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assess the factuality, relevance, and correctness of AI-generated text in domain-specific statistical contexts
  • Craft challenging analytical prompts and deliver expert-level answers in Statistics
  • Evaluate and rank AI-generated domain responses based on accuracy and methodology
  • Review and correct AI-generated chains of thought for statistical correctness
  • Provide clear, precise written feedback on:
    • Quantitative reasoning
    • Statistical methods
    • Problem-solving approaches
  • Collaborate with the Outlier expert community to maintain and enforce high-quality standards

Required Skills

  • Exceptional ability to write clearly, precisely, and accurately about Statistics concepts in fluent English
  • Strong analytical reasoning with a rigorous attention to quantitative detail
  • Comfortable working independently in a fully remote, asynchronous environment

Required Qualifications

Minimum of a Doctorate (PhD) in one or more of the following fields:

  • Statistics
  • Biostatistics
  • Mathematical Statistics
  • Applied Mathematics
  • Econometrics
  • Data Science (with a statistical focus)
  • Operations Research
  • Machine Learning (statistics-focused)
  • Quantitative Psychology

OR

Proven experience as:

  • A statistician, biostatistician, or quantitative researcher
  • A data scientist (with a strong statistical background)
  • In a comparable highly technical/analytical role requiring deep quantitative expertise

Compensation

  • Hourly rate: up to $150 USD/hr
  • Weekly payments via supported platforms (e.g., PayPal or AirTM)
