PHD Peer Review – Cardiac & Cardiovascular Systems
Peer Reviewer for Academic Journals (Part-Time, Remote)
Note: This is a long-term, stable part-time role that supports remote work. Please review the requirements carefully before applying.
Requirements
Applicants must have:
- A Doctorate (PhD) or equivalent advanced degree in the relevant subject area
- Published at least 5 papers in SCI/SSCI journals within the past three years
- A thorough understanding of research methodologies and ethical principles within their discipline
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Excellent written communication abilities, including the capacity to deliver clear, concise, and constructive feedback
- The ability to adhere to deadlines and manage time effectively
- A commitment to confidentiality and objectivity
- Prior experience as a peer reviewer for academic journals is strongly preferred
- Familiarity with online manuscript submission and review systems

Key Responsibilities
- Assess Novelty: Determine whether the manuscript presents original research that adds meaningful new knowledge or insights to the field
- Evaluate Study Design & Methodology: Review the study design and methods to ensure they are appropriate, rigorous, well-documented, and reproducible
- Review Literature Integration: Verify the manuscript thoroughly incorporates and cites relevant, current research from the field
- Analyse Results & Conclusions: Assess whether results are clearly presented and whether conclusions are fully justified by the data and significant to the academic community
- Provide Constructive Feedback: Offer _actionable suggestions for improvement while highlighting any flaws, omissions, or ethical concerns
- Recommend Publication Decisions: Provide recommendations to the journal editor regarding whether the manuscript should be accepted, revised, or rejected based on evaluations
