PHD Peer Review – Cardiac & Cardiovascular Systems

Peer Reviewer for Academic Journals (Part-Time, Remote)

Note: This is a long-term, stable part-time role that supports remote work. Please review the requirements carefully before applying.


Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • A Doctorate (PhD) or equivalent advanced degree in the relevant subject area
  • Published at least 5 papers in SCI/SSCI journals within the past three years
  • A thorough understanding of research methodologies and ethical principles within their discipline
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent written communication abilities, including the capacity to deliver clear, concise, and constructive feedback
  • The ability to adhere to deadlines and manage time effectively
  • A commitment to confidentiality and objectivity
  • Prior experience as a peer reviewer for academic journals is strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with online manuscript submission and review systems

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess Novelty: Determine whether the manuscript presents original research that adds meaningful new knowledge or insights to the field
  • Evaluate Study Design & Methodology: Review the study design and methods to ensure they are appropriate, rigorous, well-documented, and reproducible
  • Review Literature Integration: Verify the manuscript thoroughly incorporates and cites relevant, current research from the field
  • Analyse Results & Conclusions: Assess whether results are clearly presented and whether conclusions are fully justified by the data and significant to the academic community
  • Provide Constructive Feedback: Offer _actionable suggestions for improvement while highlighting any flaws, omissions, or ethical concerns
  • Recommend Publication Decisions: Provide recommendations to the journal editor regarding whether the manuscript should be accepted, revised, or rejected based on evaluations
