Peer Reviewer and Academic Evaluator – Long-Term, Part-Time (Remote)
A stable, flexible role supporting remote work
About the Role
This position is for a highly skilled academic professional to provide rigorous, expert peer review for scientific and scholarly journals. The successful candidate will assess manuscripts for novelty, methodological soundness, relevance, and impact—guiding the journal editor in decisive publication recommendations.
This is a long-term, part-time opportunity that supports remote work.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Must hold a Doctorate (PhD) or equivalent advanced degree in the relevant subject area.
- Published at least 5 papers in SCI or SSCI journals within the past three years.
- Thorough understanding of research methodologies and adherence to ethical principles within the discipline.
- Exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills to assess academic rigor.
- Strong written communication ability, with expertise in delivering clear, constructive feedback to authors.
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage time efficiently under strict schedules.
- Demonstrated commitment to confidentiality and objectivity in evaluations.
- Experience as a peer reviewer for academic journals is highly desirable (not mandatory).
- Familiarity with online manuscript submission systems (e.g., ScholarOne, Elsevier Track).

Key Responsibilities
- Assess Novelty: Evaluate whether the manuscript firmly contributes new knowledge or insights to the field, avoiding redundancy with existing research.
- Critique Study Design & Methodology: Verify whether the methodology is scientifically valid, well-documented, and reproducible.
- Review Literature: Confirm comprehensive incorporation of current, relevant research references within the manuscript.
- Analyze Results & Conclusions: Ensure results are presented transparently and that conclusions logically align with the data, holding significance for the field.
- Offer Constructive Feedback: Suggest actionable improvements to strengthen the manuscript, while identifying ethical concerns, technical flaws, or gaps.
- Support Publication Decisions: Provide objective, evidence-based recommendations to the journal editor to determine manuscript fate (accept, revise, or reject).
