Chesterfield Royal Hospital - Derbyshire Pathology
Phlebotomist Part-Time
Three positions available for 24 hours a week (Band 2)
Previous applicant need not apply.
(Flexibility to do morning, afternoon, evening and weekend shifts on a rota basis is required).
This is an interesting and diverse role in a key supportive service within the Trust, with a focus on providing the best patient care. Integration with the wider clinical teams on a daily basis is a large part of the role, and means no two days are the same! You will be a team-worker, but have the ability to work independently.
Key Requirements:
- Educated to GCSE/O level standard at grade C or above or equivalent.
- The ability to communicate at all levels and have experience of dealing with people is an essential requirement for the post.
- Previous health care experience and knowledge of Phlebotomy would be an advantage but is not essential as full training will be given.
- Adaptable and reliable with the ability to work on your own in a busy environment once fully trained.
- Good manual dexterity due to the nature of the post.
- Possess a positive, friendly and compassionate attitude towards patients and colleagues.
- A full clean UK driving licence is essential with access to your own vehicle which will require business use insurance.
Main Duties:
- Taking blood samples from adults by venepuncture and from children and neonates by finger and heel prick once fully trained and competent.
- Working in clinical areas, including wards, clinics, Emergency Department and Community settings across Derbyshire liaising with colleagues to ensure the needs of the service are met.
- Working flexibly on a rota's basis as part of the wider Phlebotomy team.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Friendly and compassionate manner, with an understanding of dignity and respect for patients and colleagues.
- Stock management of phlebotomy consumables.
- Adherence to Health and Safety guidelines.
