Phlebotomy Team Leader
Phlebotomy Team Leader – Supervisory Role
About the Role
This key leadership position involves overseeing phlebotomists across hospitals and GP practices in central London. The successful candidate will provide directed supervision to ensure efficient, high-quality phlebotomy services while maintaining operational excellence.
The successful applicant will ideally possess:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A minimum of five years’ experience as a phlebotomist
- Previous supervisory experience in phlebotomy (preference given)
This is a busy, highly regarded service with a focus on delivering an outstanding patient experience and world-class care.
Key Responsibilities

Supervision & Team Management
- Lead and oversee phlebotomy staff across outpatients, wards and community settings
- Ensure efficient service delivery, maintaining appropriate staffing levels and professional standards

Quality Assurance & Issue Resolution
- Identify and resolve errors, issues, or operational inefficiencies within phlebotomy services
- Handle routine disciplinary matters and staff-related concerns promptly
- Collaborate with the Phlebotomy Manager in resolving complex issues

Equipment & Facility Maintenance
- Monitor phlebotomy equipment and working areas for performance and compliance
- Report defects or faults to relevant personnel for timely resolution

Scheduling & Personnel Management
- Compile and manage staff rotas efficiently
- Track and process sickness absence, including conducting return-to-work interviews
- Support the Phlebotomy Manager in absence management

Performance & Development
- Conduct appraisals, performance reviews and discuss personal objectives & development plans with staff
