Photo Editor (Assistant Picture Editor)

Job Description

We are looking for a UK based Photo Editor (Assistant Picture Editor) to join the New York Post team. The New York Post’s Photo Department is integral to our fast-paced newsroom, working across platforms to enhance storytelling with compelling and timely imagery. Our editors are visual journalists with sharp editorial instincts and a keen sense for what resonates with readers.

Reporting into the Photo Director, this role will be a key part of the visuals team, helping shape how stories are told across our digital platforms. The Photo Editor will react quickly to breaking news, source compelling imagery, and collaborate closely with editors and reporters to ensure our coverage is visually engaging, accurate, and timely.

Responsibilities

Produce fast visual coverage on live breaking news and trending stories. Fulfill photo requests to produce high quality assets for digital and print needs. Researching live news, sports & political events. Create visually impactful composites for the homepage.

Requirements

2+ years experience at a multi-platform digital media brand. Keen newsroom experience to thrive in a fast-paced environment under pressure. Good photo agency knowledge of mainstream wire services and agents. Proven photo research and social verification skills. Excellent news judgment with knowledge of news, sports and entertainment. Digital-first mindset with experience adapting photos across platforms. Proficient Adobe Photoshop skills.

Note: This role will be expected to be based out of London. The shift schedule for this position is Thursday-Monday, 6am-2pm GMT.

Base Pay Range: $65,000 - $75,000 USD
