Job title: Photographer / Videographer - The Courier

Location: Dundee, UK; Hybrid including night and evening work

Great visual journalism stops people in their tracks. It's the image that sums up a community's biggest day, the video that captures the emotion of a breaking story – content that gets shared, watched and remembered.

The Courier, part of renowned publishing group, DC Thomson, is looking for a talented Photographer / Videographer to join our in-house News AV team and help create outstanding visual journalism for our trusted news brands both digitally and in print.

You'll be joining a team that is passionate about delivering high-quality visual journalism, where our audience needs come first and great storytelling, creativity and innovation are truly valued.

You'll work alongside talented editors, reporters, photographers and digital specialists who all share the same goal – producing journalism that informs, engages and connects with the communities that we serve and champion across Tayside, Fife and Stirling.

The successful candidate will be on-the-road capturing the people, events and live news incidents which shape communities from Stonehaven to Stirling to Highland Perthshire. The role holder will have a full driving licence and will be expected to attend at DC Thomson’s offices in Dundee as required.

DC Thomson is a responsible and ethical publisher, committed to telling the stories that matter to our communities in line with our legal and regulatory obligations and quality standards. The Photographer / Videographer will deliver high quality photo and video content that supports The Courier’s ability to compete in a fast-moving media environment.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
