We’re looking for a PHP Developer
We’re looking for a PHP Developer to join our growing digital agency team, helping us design, build and maintain high-quality websites, web applications and digital platforms for our clients.
About us
Platform is a digital team of strategists, UX specialists and developers, designing and building bespoke websites, web applications and digital tools for charities, healthcare, education and retail. Since starting in 2016, we’ve grown into a close-knit team working from our offices in Manchester and Cheshire. We care about doing great work and using technology to make a genuine difference. We value collaboration, curiosity and attention to detail, giving everyone the opportunity to contribute ideas, develop their skills and help shape both the projects we deliver and the future of Platform.
The role
This is a hands-on development role working across bespoke PHP builds, Laravel applications, WordPress websites, integrations, APIs and ongoing client improvements. You’ll work closely with our design, project and leadership teams to turn ideas, briefs and technical requirements into reliable, well-structured digital products. You’ll be involved across the full development lifecycle, from planning and scoping through to build, testing, deployment and ongoing support. The role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving problems, writing clean and maintainable code, and working on a variety of projects rather than the same product every day. We work flexibly, so from Monday to Thursday you can work from home, our Manchester office or our Cheshire office. Every Friday, the whole team works together from our Manchester office, so being able to attend in person each week is an essential part of the role. We’re looking for someone who is comfortable taking ownership, asking good questions and contributing to better ways of working as the agency continues to grow.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
