About The Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Web/CMS Developer to join our expanding delivery team based in Newcastle upon Tyne. This is a permanent position offering a hybrid working arrangement, with some remote work flexibility. The role requires active SC security clearance, reflecting the sensitive nature of our projects within the public sector. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing content-driven websites and digital platforms, with a particular focus on WordPress development. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including designers, content specialists, delivery managers, and technical stakeholders, to deliver high-quality digital solutions that meet user needs and compliance standards.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in web development, particularly with WordPress CMS.
  • Strong understanding of modern web technologies such as HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and PHP.
  • Experience working within Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG) and best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop scalable, secure, and user-friendly digital solutions.
  • Active SC security clearance or the ability to obtain it.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or a related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, customize, and maintain WordPress-based websites and digital platforms, ensuring they are secure, accessible, and performant.
  • Collaborate with designers and content specialists to implement engaging and user-centric web interfaces.
  • Participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives within an Agile environment.
  • Ensure all web solutions adhere to accessibility standards and best practices for usability.
  • Implement and maintain best coding practices, version control, and documentation.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues promptly, providing ongoing support and enhancements.
  • Work closely with technical stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into effective digital solutions.
  • Stay updated with emerging web development trends and technologies to continuously improve project delivery.
