About The Role
We are looking for an experienced Laravel developer to join our engineering team. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex, high-scale systems that serve millions of users across the UK. You will be instrumental in designing, developing, and optimizing our platform's architecture, ensuring it remains reliable, scalable, and performant. The role involves tackling challenging technical problems, building scalable backend services, and enhancing our existing infrastructure. You will have the chance to work directly with senior engineers and leadership, influencing both technical decisions and the strategic direction of our platform. This is not a maintenance-heavy position; instead, it is a dynamic role where your contributions will have immediate and visible impact on our customers and internal teams.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of two years of professional experience working with Laravel and at least five years in backend development using modern frameworks. Strong SQL skills, including database design and indexing, are essential. Experience working with large datasets or high-volume applications is highly desirable. You should have a proven track record of integrating third-party APIs such as Stripe, Google, AWS, or OpenAI. A solid understanding of backend concepts like caching, queues, and asynchronous processing is required. Excellent debugging and problem-solving skills are critical for success in this role. Additionally, you should be proactive, curious, and passionate about writing clean, maintainable code and staying updated with the latest technological advancements.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
