PHP Quality Assurance Lead
Job Title: PHP Quality Assurance Lead Job Type: Contract (Hourly) Location: Remote
About This Role
You will work as the PHP Quality Assurance Lead to maintain and elevate quality, consistency, and trainer performance across PHP AI training projects.
Key Focus Areas:
- Overseeing code reviews for AI-generated PHP code
- Evaluating output against project guidelines
- Providing clear, detailed written feedback on:
- Code correctness and runtime behaviour
- Framework adaptability (e.g., Laravel/Symfony)
- Debugging accuracy
- Code readability, maintainability & performance
- Security compliance (SQL handling, validation)
- Test coverage & PSR standard adherence
- Formatting & rubric interpretation
- Managing quality workflows across remote technical teams

Selection Process

Your Profile
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, or equivalent experience
- 3+ years in the following roles:
- PHP development/backend engineering
- Code review, mentoring, or QA workflow coordination
Technical Expertise
Required:
- Hands-on PHP 8+ expertise including:
- OOP, namespaces, sessions, HTTP/REST API integration
- Database access (e.g., MySQL/PostgreSQL)
- Dependency management (Composer, Git)
- Error handling mechanisms
Critical Cognitive Skills:
- Ability to diagnose AI/generated code flaws such as:
- Non-executable code
- SQL injection vulnerabilities
- Illogical or bypassable validations
- Undocumented
hallucinated function calls
Preferred:
- Working knowledge of:
- Laravel/Symfony frameworks
- PHPUnit, Pest testing frameworks
- Redis caching/CDN optimisation
- Docker/GitHub environments & CI/CD
- Static analysis tools (PHPStan, Psalm)
Collaborative Attributes
- Proven experience leading or supporting remote teams:
- Trainers, annotators, developers, or QA peers
- Fluency in Discord-based collaboration tools
- Use of productivity systems:
- Google Sheets/ Docs
- Trackers, dashboards, issue logging

Organization
- Self-documenting skills (style guides, FAQs, trackers)
- Ability to anticipate recurring quality gaps for process improvement
- Familiarity with AI code evaluation rubrics is a plus
Key Responsibilities

Code Velocity & Accountability
- Spot-check assigned PHP items via direct messages
- Provide real-time feedback (format consistency, handoff clarity)

Curator Role
- Audit AI-generated PHP snippets; scour for risks (security, logic, formatting gaps) -Antonise database logic, tests, and API renditions

Trainer/Team Facilitator
- Sync Discord channels with latest PHP-quality updates
- One-on-one support to clarify guidelines/rubrics, resolve technical stalls
- Reactivate and track inactive contributors through DM follow-ups

Knowledge Hub Maintenance
- Craft and revise style guides/examples
- Develop calibration tasks & honeypots against bad/questionable outputs
- Onboard/educate new team members via kinetically led calls

Process Innovation
- Flag security loopholes, outdated code, or misleading examples
- Document new risk vectors and propose scalability improvements
Language Note: Strict emphasis on disciplined, British-English communication in all written feedback.
